Hello and welcome, future Duel-Bearer! I'm Alex, and I am absolutely thrilled to share this world with you. I poured my heart, soul, and a whole lot of holographic laminate into creating Qhavi'torra, a game where every card tells a story and every duel is a cinematic masterpiece. This guide is your first step into the world of Arreqqana, and it will walk you through everything you need to know to command your own Thread Spirits and begin your first epic "Threadborn Duel." Prepare yourself... this is going to be life-changing.
1. The Legend of the Threadborn Duels: The World of Arreqqana
Long before our time, the world of Arreqqana was shaped by eight great spiritual forces that flow through all living things. These forces—Flame, River, Stone, Wind, Aether, Radiance, Shadow, and Lunar—can manifest as living sigils of incredible power, known as the Qhavi'torra, or "Thread Spirits."
These spirits are not mere monsters; they are companions, allies who choose a human partner to resonate with. These chosen humans are known as "Duel-Bearers." When two Duel-Bearers meet, their spiritual threads clash and intertwine, igniting a sacred battle of wits, strategy, and spirit: a Threadborn Duel. This game is our way of recreating those legendary battles.
Now, let's look at how these epic forces are brought to life in your deck!
2. Your Arsenal: Understanding the Cards
Every card in your deck has a unique and vital role to play. Understanding what each card does is the first step toward mastering the art of the duel and weaving your own story of victory.
2.1 The Five Card Types
• Thread Spirits These are the main units that you will summon to battle on the field.
• Duel-Bearers This is your hero card, representing you, the player, and providing powerful passive bonuses to your spirits.
• Chant Technique Cards These are the dramatic special abilities and powerful attacks you can unleash during a duel.
• Sigil Relic Cards These are powerful items that can be placed on the field to provide continuous support for your units.
• Arena Cards These are special field environments that can change the fundamental rules and flow of the entire duel.
2.2 Decoding a Spirit's Power
Every Thread Spirit has four core stats that determine its role in battle. Mastering them is key to victory.
Stat | Description |
Power (P) | Represents the raw attack strength of the Spirit. |
Flow (F) | Measures the Spirit's speed, agility, and ability to execute combos. |
Guard (G) | Indicates the Spirit's defensive strength and ability to withstand attacks. |
Echo (E) | As the creator, I have a special place in my heart for the 'Echo' stat. It’s the core of our most dramatic combos and cinematic moments. Mastering your Echo is the key to unlocking your deck's true spiritual power and powering your most devastating Chant cards! |
2.3 Example Cards in Action
Here are a couple of cards you'll see in the game to give you a feel for how they work.
Lunar Spirit — “Sarrin Moqa”
Moon Fox Spirit
P: 2 • F: 3 • G: 1 • E: 4
Effect: When summoned, you may look at the top 2 cards of your deck.
Chant — “Na Qhiya Vvokhirra”
Shadow-Lunar Blade Wave
Cost: 3 Echo
Effect: Deal 5 damage to any Spirit. If you control a Lunar Spirit, deal 7 instead.
With your arsenal understood, it's time to learn the art of the duel itself.
3. The Rules of Engagement: How to Play
3.1 What You Need to Start
To begin a Threadborn Duel, each player starts the game with three key things:
• A 40-card deck
• 1 Duel-Bearer card
• 20 Spirit Points (SP)
3.2 The Flow of Battle: The Five Turn Phases
Each player's turn is broken down into five distinct phases, creating a natural rhythm for the battle.
1. Qhiya Phase Draw one card and prepare for your turn. You breathe. You accept your destiny.
2. Thread Phase Play your Thread Spirits or place Sigil Relics onto the field.
3. Chant Phase Activate powerful Chant Cards by spending your Spirits' Echo.
4. Duel Phase Command your Spirits on the field to attack your opponent's Spirits or their SP directly.
5. Flow Phase Resolve any "end of turn" effects and pass the turn to your opponent.
3.3 How to Claim Victory
There are two distinct paths to winning a Threadborn Duel.
1. The most common way to win is through sheer force of will: battle your opponent and reduce their Spirit Points (SP) from 20 down to 0.
2. However, there is another, more spiritual path to victory known as Thread Ascension. This is our game's signature instant win condition. If you manage to control five different types of Spirits on your field at the same time (1 Flame, 1 River, 1 Wind, 1 Stone, AND either a Lunar or an Aether spirit), you can perform the chant and claim an immediate victory!
"Na qhalara… na qhiya… na taraeva."
(My threads rise, my breath awakens, my story ignites.)
Now that you know the rules, let's see how they play out in a real duel between two of the club's finest!
4. Witness a Duel: Yaya vs. Jarru
The best way to learn is to see a game in action. Here is a breakdown of the first official duel in our club, a legendary clash between Yaya with her "Moqa’Saare Eclipse" deck and Jarru with his "Qhal’neddor Pulse" deck. The energy in the room was electric!
Turn 1: Yaya's Move
Summons: Sarrin Moqa — Moon-Fox Spirit Yaya chants softly, "Moqa suun… na qhiya…" and a spectral fox of silver flame curls around her wrist. The card's effect lets her look at the top two cards of her deck. I couldn't help but narrate proudly: "And the Moon-Fox enters with a +1 Echo advantage!" Jarru gives a respectful whistle.
Turn 1: Jarru's Move
Summons: Ember Lynx — Flame Spirit A fiery lynx smolders beside him. Jarru immediately attacks, and the Ember Lynx lunges at Sarrin Moqa. The Moon-Fox takes 2 Guard damage but remains on the field, poised and elegant.
Turn 2: Yaya's Move
Activates Chant: Na Qhiya Vvokhirra – Shadow-Lunar Blade Wave Silver and shadow crescents slash across the field, dealing a boosted 7 damage to Jarru's spirit. I shouted, "OHHH she used it EARLY— bold choice!" The Ember Lynx is defeated. The club explodes with cheers. Jarru admits with a grin: "Okay… that was CLEAN."
Turn 2: Jarru's Move
Summons: Qhal’Varron Wolf — Flameborn Alpha A massive wolf with 6 Power lands on the field with a flaming roar that shakes the table. Peppi gasps from the sidelines: "That card is STRONG—!"
Turn 3: Yaya's Final Move
Yaya gently strokes her Moon-Fox plush as a silver aura glows around her. Plays Relic: Lunese Bloom Sigil – Echo Boost She chants, "Moqa… saare… na lunama…" and the sigil raises her Sarrin Moqa's Echo from 4 to 6. This unlocks its ultimate ability! Activates: MOON-FOX ASCENSION Light swells as the Moon-Fox takes on its full celestial form, silver petals swirling in the air. Yaya whispers its final attack, powerful and clear.
With a whispered chant, "Moqa’Sarrin… Qhima’Vvokhirra," a silent crescent wave of pure moonlight cuts through the flame, defeats the Qhal'Varron Wolf, and reduces Jarru's SP to 0, winning Yaya the duel!
That duel was a perfect example of strategy and spirit! Yaya's control and synergy overcame Jarru's raw power. Now, it's time for you to find a style that resonates with your own spirit.
5. Find Your Spirit: Choosing a Starter Deck
I've designed five unique starter decks so that everyone in the club can find a playstyle that feels right for them. Which one calls to you?
• Flameborn Deck — “Qhal’neddor Pulse”: Wielded by Jarruwanotisjondre Tarraqhavvezz, this is a fast and aggressive deck focused on overwhelming the opponent with raw power.
• River Whisper Deck — “Nala’ri Sway”: Wielded by Peppiqhilala Parrivvavva, this is a control-focused deck that uses healing and Echo loops to outlast the competition.
• Lunar-Fox Deck — “Moqa’Saare Eclipse”: Wielded by Yaya (Moon-Fox Maiden), this is a strategic deck that relies on powerful synergy between Shadow and Lunar cards.
• Stone Mind Deck — “Korr’Varen Hold”: Wielded by Narriven, this is a defensive "tank" deck built around high Guard stats to build an impenetrable wall.
• Wind Trickster Deck — “Sarrivvaa Gale”: Wielded by Sirrovarra, this is a high-speed deck that focuses on fast combos and tricky maneuvers to keep the opponent off-balance.
6. Your Duel Awaits!
You now have the knowledge of the lore, the cards, and the rules of engagement. But remember, the most important part of Qhavi'torra isn't just about winning or losing. It's about the cinematic fun, the thrill of shouting your chants in Arreqqana, and sharing that excitement with your friends. It’s about weaving a story together, one duel at a time. Now, shuffle your deck, draw your first hand, and let your own Threadborn Duel begin!
